This illustration, however, reverses that pattern. Here, the suitor is a prince, someone already at the top. Therefore, he has no reason to overlook the difference. When he learns she is a dragon, he lets fear guide him. Moreover, perhaps a quiet belief in species-based purity shapes his choice. As a result, he leaves her with questions no answer can soothe.
